Most of what we have in Pittsburgh and throughout the United States when it comes to so-called Black leadership is a confluence of weak-ass politicians, pimping mega-church preachers, celebrity activists, lecture-circuit academics and various non-profits on foundation life-support.
Elders who invoke the imagery of the civil rights and black power movement, but who lost their fight long ago.
Youth who think the most defining quality for leadership and struggle is…, well.., youth.
Academics who have conference after conference but have no real dialogue with, nor invite participation from, the folks they are conferencing about ( youth, the poor, formerly incarcerated).
Celebrity activists who seek to replace community organizing and nation-building with entertainment and witty monolog.
The Black elite and wealthy who only invoke the Black leadership clause when its to their economic or political advantage to do so.
In essence, it is actually BLACK MISLEADERSHIP.
All Power to The People!
